Kazakh Village Thrives: A Model of Rural Development
Nestled on the Kazakhstani steppe, near the border with Russia, lies the village of Galichkoye. This seemingly ordinary village has experienced extraordinary transformation thanks to a dedicated akim, Vyacheslav Simonenko, and the TOO Galichkoye agricultural company. Alexander Kosichin, head of TOO Galichkoye, explains, "For the last fifteen years, we've built around fifty homes, providing central heating and water to all residents." This initiative has not only improved living conditions but also fostered a sense of community, attracting new residents and encouraging those who left to return. The video showcases the village's modern amenities, including a sports complex and a bakery, creating a stark contrast to the challenges faced by many rural communities. The success of Galichkoye serves as a model for sustainable rural development in Kazakhstan.
