A mother from the U.S. has issued a stark warning to parents after her 11-year-old son became a victim of a sophisticated sextortion scam. The incident, which left her son traumatized, involved scammers using artificial intelligence to create explicit images and threaten their release. The mother recounted the harrowing experience in a recent online video. Her son, who was at a friend's house, received a text message requesting a picture of his face. Unaware of the danger, he complied. Shortly after, the scammers sent back AI-generated nude images that appeared to be him. They then demanded money, threatening to disseminate the fabricated images to his TikTok followers if he refused. "My son is literally not okay, and I am fucking pissed now," the mother stated, emphasizing the severe emotional distress inflicted upon her child. She learned that this type of scam, known as sextortion, is prevalent and has even led to tragic outcomes, including a 16-year-old taking their own life due to similar circumstances. The mother plans to contact the FBI regarding the incident and urges all parents to educate their children about the dangers of online interactions and to be vigilant against such predatory schemes.
