Delicious Stuffed Braids: A Simple Recipe for Any Meal
A recent video by home cook Oklagijica (kikiioklagijica) showcases a straightforward recipe for "Punjene pletenice," or stuffed braided pastries, ideal for breakfast, a snack, or dinner. The tutorial provides clear instructions for preparing these versatile treats, which can be customized with various fillings. To begin, combine 250 ml of milk, 100 ml of water, 80 ml of oil, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 10 grams of dry yeast in a bowl. Gradually add 650 grams of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt, kneading until a soft, smooth dough forms. Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover it, and allow it to rise at room temperature until doubled in size. Once risen, transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll it into a large rectangle. Spread ketchup over the dough, then layer 200 grams of shredded Gouda cheese on two-thirds of the dough and sliced ham or cured meat on the remaining one-third. Fold the dough as demonstrated in the video, then cut it into eight smaller rectangles. Each rectangle is then cut into three strips and braided. Arrange the braided pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for approximately 20 minutes, then brush with a beaten egg and sprinkle with oregano if desired. Bake at 220°C (428°F) for about 15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. The resulting pastries are soft, cheesy, and perfect for sharing.
