Minsk Introduces Strict New Public Transport Drunkenness Ban

Minsk, Belarus – Starting September 15th, a new regulation will prohibit individuals from traveling in public transport while intoxicated. The measure aims to enhance public safety and order across the city's ground public transport network. According to an announcement made in a recent video, controllers will be equipped with alcohol testers, including disposable mouthpieces, to enforce the new rule. Passengers found to have a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.6 per mille will face penalties. For a first offense, individuals will be subject to a fine equivalent to five basic units. A second violation will result in a doubled fine of ten basic units. Persistent offenders, upon a third violation, will face review by a special commission, which may decide on a referral to a drug and alcohol treatment center. This initiative marks a significant step in regulating public conduct within Minsk's transport system.
