In a recent statement, Hatzidakis reflected on his previous tenure as Minister of Transport, recalling the initial backlash faced when he extended Metro and Electric Railway hours until 2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. “I remember how much reaction my decision caused when I was Minister of Transport to extend the Metro and Electric Railway hours until 2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays,” Hatzidakis stated. “However, the youth embraced it, and now it is finally considered self-evident.” Building on this past success, Hatzidakis believes that the younger generation will once again support the new endeavor to provide round-the-clock public transportation on weekends. This move aims to further enhance urban mobility and cater to the needs of citizens who rely on public transit during late hours.
