La política de bloques estalla en el ‘todos contra todos’ del Congreso
La izquierda vota dividida y PP y Vox sacan adelante una propuesta de los “golpistas” de Junts
In a recent statement, Carles Puigdemont, the 130th President of Catalonia, criticized the Spanish Congress's decision to deny Catalonia competencies in immigration matters. Puigdemont highlighted an agreement between the Popular Party, Vox, and Podemos, which he claims prevents Catalonia from managing its own immigration policies. The former Catalan President argued that Spain's current handling of immigration is ineffective and that Catalonia, as a distinct nation, requires the authority to manage the migratory phenomenon. He stated that the impact of immigration directly affects public services under Catalan jurisdiction, such as education, healthcare, social services, transport, and housing. Puigdemont further asserted that the denial of these competencies creates problems that are subsequently exploited for political gain by various parties, hindering social cohesion and integration within Catalonia. He expressed disappointment but noted that it was not surprising for 'extreme Spain' to unite against Catalonia when such issues arise.
