Responsible Gun Ownership in Ukraine: A Surprisingly Low Number of Incidents Despite Rising Weapon Registration

Kyiv, Ukraine – June 4, 2025 – The Head of the Association of Weapon Owners, Georgiy Uchaykin, recently spoke on Kyiv FM's program "ГоворитьКиїв" about firearm safety and responsibility. Uchaykin highlighted the rising number of registered weapons in Ukraine and stressed the importance of responsible gun ownership. He emphasized that while the number of registered weapons is increasing, there's a surprisingly low number of incidents involving their misuse. "The police are surprised by the lack of incidents," stated Uchaykin, attributing this to Ukrainians' responsible handling of firearms. He also discussed the need for comprehensive training and registration to maintain this positive trend. The interview underscores the importance of responsible gun ownership in a country facing ongoing conflict.
