Agen Farmers Await Verdict After Two-Day Trial

Twenty farmers from the Coordination Rurale 47 union recently stood trial in Agen, France, for actions taken during winter 2024 protests. The two-day trial concluded with a reserved judgment, with decisions expected on July 10th. Reactions were mixed outside the courthouse. Me Christophe Dejean, the farmers' lawyer, stated that the trial "opened a space for humanity" and that his clients now better understand the reasons for their prosecution. However, Karine Duc, co-president of the Lot-et-Garonne Coordination Rurale, viewed the proceedings as a politically motivated attack against the union.
