Lima's Corredor Morado Bus System to Go Cashless
Lima's Corredor Morado Bus System Goes Cashless: A Move Towards Efficiency Lima, Peru – Passengers using the Corredor Morado bus system in Lima will soon need to adapt to a cashless payment system. Starting June 30, 2025, cash will no longer be accepted, according to a recent announcement. The change is designed to improve efficiency and the overall passenger experience by reducing wait times at stops. "The objective of this measure is to accelerate service, reduce waiting times at stops, and improve the passenger experience," stated a representative from the Corredor Morado concessionaire. The company is launching a mobile app to allow for digital top-ups of Lima Pass cards, the only accepted payment method going forward. To ensure a smooth transition, additional staff will be present at bus stops and on the buses themselves to assist passengers with card top-ups and answer any questions. Users of the Lima Pass will also be able to take advantage of promotional zonal fares, resulting in considerable savings on daily commutes. This initiative reflects a broader trend towards modernization and efficiency in public transportation systems. The cashless system is expected to contribute to a more streamlined and user-friendly experience for commuters in Lima.
