Senamhi Issues Yellow Alert: Cold Snap, Fog Hit Four Peruvian Regions
Lima Braces for Cold Snap as Anticyclone Brings Fog and Drizzle Peru's capital, Lima, is experiencing unusually cold weather due to the arrival of the Anticyclone of the South Pacific. The National Meteorological and Hydrological Service of Peru (Senamhi) has issued a yellow alert for the regions of Lima, Callao, Lambayeque, and Piura, warning of cloudy conditions, potential fog, and occasional drizzle from June 1st to 3rd. The cold snap is expected to particularly impact coastal districts. "Between the 1st and 3rd of June, we predict cloudy skies with the possible appearance of fog and occasional drizzle," stated Senamhi in a recent forecast. The agency also cautioned that the cold weather could lead to reduced visibility, increasing risks for vehicular circulation. The yellow alert indicates that the meteorological conditions are expected to be most intense in these four regions. Senamhi recommends taking preventative measures such as avoiding prolonged outdoor activities during periods of strong winds and securing lightweight structures. The cold weather is expected to affect visibility, particularly in coastal areas, during the early mornings and evenings. Despite the challenging weather, residents are urged to remain informed through official channels and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
