Expert Advice: The Hidden Danger of Oil-Based Cleansers for Your Makeup Brushes
In a recent online video, beauty enthusiast Ania Laskowska-Peters shared a crucial tip for makeup brush maintenance, cautioning against the popular trend of using oil-based products, such as shower oils, for cleaning brushes. According to Laskowska-Peters, oils possess a property that can dissolve the glue binding the bristles of makeup brushes, leading to their eventual disintegration. 'I know everyone recommends it, but oils have a property that can dissolve the glue that holds your brush hairs together,' she stated in her video. 'And if the glue dissolves, the brush simply falls apart.' Instead, Laskowska-Peters advocates for a more traditional and durable method: using grey soap. She specifically recommended 'Biały Jeleń' (White Deer) soap, highlighting its effectiveness and safety. 'I use 'Biały Jeleń' grey soap, and it works great for me. I've been washing my brushes with it for over a dozen years, and not a single one has fallen apart,' she explained. She emphasized that this method is suitable for all types of brushes—natural, synthetic—and even sponges. 'It's cheap and it's good. No problem,' she concluded, offering a simple yet impactful piece of advice for prolonging the life of makeup tools.
