U.S. Citizen Adrian Martinez Arrested by Border Patrol in California Incident. A 20-year-old U.S. citizen, Adrian Martinez, was arrested by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in a Walmart parking lot in California on Tuesday, June 17, after he intervened in the apprehension of a maintenance worker. The incident, captured by surveillance and bystander video, quickly went viral across social media platforms, sparking widespread public debate. Martinez, a Walmart employee, was returning from his break when he observed Border Patrol trucks detaining a maintenance worker. According to eyewitness accounts and video footage, Martinez exited his car and wheeled a trash can in front of a Border Patrol vehicle. As other passersby gathered, yelling and honking their horns, an agent was seen sprinting from the truck and pushing Martinez to the ground. A chaotic scuffle ensued as Martinez stood up, confronting the agents. "What is he doing? He's a f***king hard worker," Martinez is heard yelling in the footage as additional armed agents, some in plain clothes, arrived on the scene. They proceeded to shove Martinez and forcibly arrest him. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson later stated that an agent was punched in the face and another was struck during the incident. CBP indicated it is presenting the case to the U.S. attorney's office for prosecution for impeding or assaulting a federal officer. As of Wednesday night, no formal complaint against Martinez was publicly available. The incident marks the second time in a week that the arrest of an American citizen by immigration officers during an enforcement operation has gained significant viral attention.
