Former Guanajuato Governor Diego Sinhue's $1 Million Texas Home Sparks Controversy
Houston, Texas – An investigative report by PopLab has revealed that Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, the former governor of Guanajuato, Mexico, resides in a house in Houston, Texas, valued at approximately $1 million (around 20 million Mexican pesos). The property is reportedly not registered under the former governor's name but belongs to a security company identified as DAI LLC, a firm registered in Colorado. According to the investigation, DAI LLC operated within Sinhue’s administration between 2018 and 2024. Public records indicate that from 2012 to 2021, the company, also known as Seguritec, received a total of 2.8 billion pesos in public funds through contracts with the Guanajuato government. It was noted that many of these agreements under the PAN administration were classified as reserved. The manager of DAI LLC is identified as Daniel Esquenazi Beara, a promoter for Seguritec, which specializes in security technologies like road arches and surveillance cameras. The report also highlights that the Sinhue family owns three Jeep vehicles, with two of them costing over 1 million pesos each. This revelation comes after Sinhue announced in September 2024, before the end of his term, that he would be stepping away from politics to focus on his family and business. At that time, he stated he would be renting a "normal" house in Texas, where only family members would reside. The findings raise questions regarding the former governor's financial arrangements and the transparency of government contracts during his tenure.
