Alarming Rise in STIs Prompts Spanish Health Campaign
A recent report from La Voz de Galicia reveals a sharp increase in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among young people in Spain. The rise in cases of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis has prompted the Spanish Ministry of Health to launch a public awareness campaign. "The excessive confidence of young people is something we see as far removed," said one young woman interviewed in the report. Another interviewee added, "People have relaxed because it seems like there aren't as many cases as before." The campaign aims to increase awareness of the risks and encourage safe sex practices, particularly the use of condoms. The Ministry of Health hopes to achieve greater acceptance and normalization of condom use to reduce STI transmission.
