Беларусы жалуются, что в Минске всё сложнее снять квартиру. Им не нравится хамство, дискриминация по возрасту и не только.
MINSK – Young residents in Minsk are increasingly encountering significant challenges in securing rental accommodation, with many reporting discrimination based on age and gender. A recent online video shared by a local resident highlights the growing frustration among young people seeking housing in the capital. The video features a young woman detailing her struggles to rent an apartment in Minsk. She explains that landlords are often hesitant to lease to young women, citing previous negative experiences with other youthful tenants. "It's as if everyone has gone a little crazy," she remarked, expressing dismay at the immediate negative assumptions made about her. She further elaborated on the extent of the scrutiny, stating, "It even reached the point of absurdity where I provided one landlord with proof of income for the last six months, and my parents even called to help." Despite these efforts to demonstrate reliability and financial stability, she was still met with refusal. The woman questions the fairness of the situation, asking, "Why should I suffer because of others?" She emphasizes her desire for a "cozy apartment at an adequate price with adequate owners," where she can simply relax after work. This personal account sheds light on a broader issue within the Minsk rental market, where young individuals are often unfairly stereotyped, making the search for suitable housing a daunting task.
