London Thrifting: Culture Writer's $287 Designer Haul from Charity Shops
London Thrifting Yields Designer Finds: A Culture Writer's Unexpected Haul Melbourne-based culture writer and podcaster, Maggie Zhou, recently embarked on a London thrifting adventure, resulting in an impressive haul of designer clothing. While visiting London for over a week, Zhou felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of vintage stores but ultimately found success in Chiswick's charity shops. "I was kind of overwhelmed by all the vintage stores," she admitted in her video. Her finds included a grey-blue leather jacket for £32 (approximately $66 AUD), a Boygenius band tee for £12 ($25 AUD), and a Chloe skirt from Spring 2024 for £30 ($62 AUD). Perhaps the most surprising find was a Comme des Garçons top, originally priced at £35 ($72 AUD), which had been altered by a previous owner. Zhou's video showcases her excitement at discovering these high-quality items at affordable prices, highlighting the potential for sustainable and stylish shopping in unexpected places. The total cost of her haul came to $287 AUD.
