Moldova Boosts Road Safety with New eCall Emergency System

Moldova Implements Next Generation eCall System for Enhanced Emergency Response.Chisinau, Moldova – The Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched a public information campaign to highlight the implementation of the Next Generation eCall system, a technological advancement designed to significantly improve emergency response times in Moldova. This intelligent technology automatically alerts emergency services in the event of a serious road accident, transmitting crucial information such as exact location and vital details, even if vehicle occupants are incapacitated or unable to communicate. The campaign features a compelling video demonstrating a simulated accident scenario where a driver experiences a sudden medical emergency, resulting in a collision. The eCall system is shown activating automatically, sending an alert to the 112 emergency service. Within moments, police and ambulance crews are dispatched to the precise location, providing immediate assistance to the injured driver. The video underscores the system's potential to save lives by ensuring prompt intervention when every second counts. "In an emergency, every second matters. Without immediate help, life can be in danger," states the campaign, emphasizing the system's core benefit. The 112 service receives the alert instantly and dispatches the necessary teams, leading to "lives saved."The Next Generation eCall system is presented as aligning with European standards for Moldova's safety. This initiative is co-funded by the European Union and is being implemented with the support of the "Support for EU Integration" project, financed by the German Federal Foreign Office and executed by GIZ Moldova. The Ministry of Internal Affairs aims to inform the public about this modern technology, which is expected to be fully operational by 2026, enhancing the safety and security of all road users in the country.
