
Housewife Loses RM150,000 in Terengganu Online Job Scam
TERENGGANU, MALAYSIA-A 30-year-old housewife in Terengganu has lost over RM150,000 to an online job scam. The modus operandi involved increasing hotel ratings. According to Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, ACP Azli Mohamad Noor, the victim responded to an online job advertisement on May 9th. She was contacted by an individual who identified themselves as an administrator. The victim was tasked with increasing hotel ratings in exchange for a 10% commission. Initially, she received payments as promised. However, she stopped receiving commissions and subsequently filed a police report. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. "The money used by the victim was her father's savings, which was intended as capital for a business," stated ACP Azli. This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of online scams and the importance of verifying job opportunities before investing time and money.
