RM1.4 Million Lost in Malaysian Investment Scam

A 75-year-old Malaysian company director has lost over RM1.4 million to an online investment scam. Perak police confirmed that they received a report from the victim, who was contacted by a syndicate member in April. The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, stated, "I invested RM22,122 initially, and then realized it was a fraudulent operation." Police Chief Datuk Nor Hisham Nooruddin said, "The victim made several payments totaling over RM1.4 million into six different bank accounts." The case is under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of verifying the legitimacy of online investment schemes.
