From Law to Art: KL Native Opens Interactive Art Workshop in Ipoh
Ipoh, Malaysia, welcomes a new creative hub: Cipta Karya. Twenty-six-year-old Naqib Islah Afifi Mohd Rafie, a Kuala Lumpur native with a law degree, recently opened Cipta Karya, an interactive art workshop nestled near Ipoh's iconic Concubine Lane. The workshop, launched last December, offers a range of artistic experiences, focusing on batik but also including other crafts like keychain and coaster making. "Ipoh's slower pace and artistic culture felt like the perfect fit for this kind of activity," explains Naqib. Cipta Karya provides a unique space for both locals and tourists to engage in creative activities. Prices range from RM29 to RM75. The workshop's focus on batik and other traditional crafts offers visitors a chance to connect with Malaysian culture, while its interactive nature makes it enjoyable for families and couples. Naqib's entrepreneurial journey, transitioning from law to art, adds an inspiring element to the story, demonstrating the pursuit of passion.
