Rohingya Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Rape: Court Rejects Defense Arguments

A Rohingya man known as "Long Tiger," whose real name is Abdul Hamid Abdul Hamid, 36, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison and five canings by the Muar Sessions Court. He was found guilty of raping a woman four years ago. Judge Irwan Suaibon stated that the defense's arguments were weak and largely denial-based, failing to cast reasonable doubt. The court also found the testimony of the victim's wife, who was a defense witness, to be unreliable and fabricated. The prosecution successfully proved the case beyond a reasonable doubt.
