Postpartum Fitness: One Mom's Honest Journey and Tips for Recovery
Postpartum Fitness: One Mom's Journey to Recovery Nine weeks after giving birth, Shannon, a pediatric occupational therapist and mother of two from the US, is sharing her postpartum fitness journey. She gained 35 pounds during her pregnancy, a weight gain she acknowledges as within the normal range. However, she is actively working to regain her strength and health. "The number on the scale is scary," Shannon admits, "but I also want to be a healthy model for my boys, make sure I’m eating enough food to keep up my breastmilk supply, and get my strength back up!" She says that the common belief that weight melts off while breastfeeding didn't hold true for her. This time around, Shannon is prioritizing her health with a multi-pronged approach. She's engaging in pelvic floor physical therapy, consulting with a registered dietician, and meeting with a talk therapist every other week. She encourages other mothers on a similar journey to follow along. Her commitment to a holistic approach to postpartum recovery offers valuable insights for new mothers.
