Llega una nueva ciberestafa a WhatsApp: así están robando cuentas de Facebook e Instagram
Los usuarios de la aplicación de mensajería más usada están recibiendo enlaces fraudulentos que contienen virus
A recent surge in phishing scams targeting Meta and Facebook users via WhatsApp has prompted warnings from cybersecurity experts. María Aperador, a criminologist specializing in digital security, detailed the modus operandi of these scams in a recent video. Scammers are sending messages claiming that a user's Facebook account or linked WhatsApp page has violated community standards and faces permanent deletion within 24 hours. The messages urge recipients to click a provided link to verify their account, a deceptive tactic designed to steal personal credentials. Aperador highlighted three critical elements common to these phishing attempts: the creation of a 'critical situation' such as imminent account loss, the imposition of 'urgency' with a strict 24-hour deadline, and a clear 'call to action' directing users to a malicious link. She emphasized that recognizing these patterns is crucial for users to protect themselves from falling victim to such schemes. Aperador also mentioned her cybersecurity application, Bevalk, which aims to help users avoid these types of cyber threats.
