KUALA LUMPUR – Ungku Ismail, a local innovator, has garnered significant attention on TikTok for his mathematics application, 'Power Congak,' initially designed to assist his own child. The app, which was previously known as 'Yim Genius,' offers an engaging and animated approach to mathematics practice, incorporating interactive sounds to enhance the learning experience. Ismail shared that the primary motivation behind developing the app was to provide his son, Ibrahim, with a consistent and enjoyable way to practice math daily. He noted the traditional reliance on numerous physical books for math practice and sought a more accessible and captivating alternative. "To master mathematics, you just need to practice a lot," Ismail stated, emphasizing the app's role in facilitating this. The effectiveness of 'Power Congak' became evident when Ibrahim achieved success in a school math competition, demonstrating improved skills in multi-digit addition and subtraction within seconds. The app's subsequent exposure on TikTok led to an unexpected surge in demand from parents nationwide, eager for an official version to aid their children's learning. Ismail confirmed that the app’s unexpected popularity has prompted him to pursue its official release on app stores. He also revealed plans to expand his educational initiatives, with intentions to develop similar interactive applications for other subjects. "I have other subjects in mind, God willing, I will release them in the form of questions and mini-games, similar to Power Congak," he added, acknowledging the ongoing effort required to manage development alongside his other commitments.
