

Batam Police Apprehend Two Snatching Suspects, Resist Arrest
Batam, Indonesia The Batam City Police have successfully apprehended two alleged perpetrators of violent snatching, identified by their initials MAS (22) and DS (28). The arrests followed a public report regarding a violent theft incident in the Batam City area. According to Police Chief of Barelang, Kombes Pol Zaenal Arifin, the case began with a report from a victim who experienced a violent theft. Investigations revealed that the suspects operated by riding a motorcycle, targeting female riders who were carrying bags. They would approach the victims' vehicles and forcibly snatch their bags, causing the victims to fall and incur material losses. Following the report, the Batam City Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a series of field investigations. The first suspect, MAS (22), was successfully apprehended in the Pasar Jodoh area. Further development of the case led to the arrest of the second suspect, DS (28), at his boarding house in Bengkong Indah. Police also secured evidence belonging to the victim. Police stated that both suspects attempted to flee and resisted officers during the development process. As a result, firm and measured action was taken against them.
