New research challenges long-held beliefs about common foods. A recent video featuring doctor medic_smith highlights that eggs, potatoes, and coffee, often deemed unhealthy, are in fact safe and can even offer health benefits. Contrary to popular belief, eggs, particularly their yolks, do not significantly raise blood cholesterol levels. Dr. medic_smith explains that 80% of the body's cholesterol is synthesized in the liver, with only a small percentage coming from diet. Therefore, consuming egg yolks in moderation does not pose a significant risk to cardiovascular health. Potatoes, often avoided due to their starch content, contain less starch per 100 grams than buckwheat. Insulin spikes after consuming potatoes are a normal physiological response and do not hinder weight loss or stimulate appetite. Dr. medic_smith notes that boiled or baked potatoes, due to their low calorie count and high satiety index, can be an ideal side dish for those managing their weight, provided excessive fats like oil or cream are not added. Lastly, coffee, frequently criticized for its perceived negative effects, has been shown to offer protective benefits. Modern research indicates that coffee can help prevent type 2 diabetes, reduce the risk of dementia, and lower the incidence of liver cancer. Furthermore, it does not lead to dehydration or calcium leaching from bones, as commonly believed. The doctor stresses that scientific understanding evolves, and current data supports the safe consumption of these foods.
