Atlanta, GA – An Uber driver in Atlanta recently shared a distressing account of a ride that escalated into a physical altercation, resulting in an injury to her eye. The driver, who uploaded a video detailing the incident, stated that a passenger she picked up from the airport became irate over the car's temperature and cracked windows, despite the driver adjusting the air conditioning. The situation reportedly worsened when the driver pulled over in Hapeville, off the highway, and asked the passenger to exit the vehicle. The passenger allegedly refused to leave and, according to the driver, reached into her bag for what appeared to be a weapon. In an act of self-defense, the driver deployed mace. Following this, the passenger reportedly lunged at the driver, attacking her and causing a visible injury to her eye that later required stitches. The driver emphasized the unexpected and dangerous nature of the encounter, highlighting the risks faced by ride-share operators. Authorities have not yet released a statement regarding the incident, and it is unclear if charges have been filed.
