Gaza's Hunger Crisis: Deadly Shootings at Aid Centers Gaza, occupied Palestine – The humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens as reports emerge of deadly shootings at US-led food distribution centers. Over 130 Palestinians have been killed and more than 700 wounded while attempting to access food aid since May 27th, according to Al Jazeera. This violence adds another layer of suffering to a population already grappling with food insecurity. "On days when we cannot find food, we give the children water to drink and put them to bed." says Bilal Askar, a displaced Palestinian, reflecting the desperation faced by families. One woman, Um Ghassan, a displaced Palestinian, shared her experience at a US-run Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distribution center. "I went once and didn’t get anything because there were so many people and there was a lot of shooting. I was afraid to go in," she said, highlighting the fear that prevents many from seeking aid. The insufficient food rations from charity kitchens further exacerbate the problem. Um Ghassan stated, "The distributed meal doesn’t feed anyone, but it’s better than nothing. The situation is very difficult; even the food at the free kitchen isn’t enough." The small amount of food is distributed among a large number of people, leaving many families without enough to eat. The ongoing violence and lack of adequate food supplies create a dire situation for Palestinians in Gaza. International aid organizations and the international community must urgently address the crisis and ensure the safe and effective delivery of aid to those in need.
