ALVARADO, VERACRUZ – A floating restaurant, known as 'El Atracadero,' which was swept away from its mooring on the Tuxpan River during severe floods on October 10, has reappeared in the open waters off the coast of Alvarado, Veracruz. Fishermen discovered one of the restaurant's two modules approximately eight nautical miles from the shore on Tuesday, October 14. The structure had been dislodged when the Tuxpan River, an arm of the Pantepec River, overflowed, causing widespread inundation in municipalities such as Álamo Temapache. The restaurant had reportedly been out of service prior to the floods. In a video captured by the fishermen, voices can be heard expressing surprise and questioning the origin of the floating structure, with one speculating it might have come from Poza Rica, another region severely impacted by the overflowing Cazones River. This unusual discovery underscores the powerful and far-reaching effects of the recent natural disaster in Veracruz.
