Influencer Mirta Miler Shares Transformative Sobriety Journey, Highlights Societal Pressure In a candid video shared on her platform, influencer Mirta Miler has opened up about her personal journey to sobriety, marking one year alcohol-free. Miler, known for her engaging content, discussed her early experiences with alcohol, beginning at age 15 in Croatia, where she noted drinking is "very normalized." Miler described herself as an "all or nothing" drinker, often leading to blackouts and feelings of shame. "I literally don't know what I'm doing most of the time when I'm drunk," she stated, revealing she developed an "evil Mirta" alter ego. Her decision to stop drinking came after a particularly embarrassing night. Initially, Miler ceased drinking for five years during a previous relationship, a decision she attributes to her ex-partner's preference. However, after the relationship ended, she admitted to going "absolutely wild," drinking constantly despite not enjoying it, which worsened her anxiety. The turning point led her to embrace sobriety, a path she initially doubted she could sustain. "I didn't think I could do it," she confessed. A month turned into six, and now a year later, she celebrates significant positive changes. Miler highlighted the societal pressure to consume alcohol, noting, "People are going to try to make you feel so weird for it." She also acknowledged that sobriety can lead to changes in one's social circle, which she said is "sometimes that's okay." Among the benefits, Miler cited improved physical appearance, including "completely depuffed" skin and weight loss, attributing the latter to cutting out "a thousand calories every other day" from alcohol and late-night fast food. She also spoke of overcoming a "detoxing" period of depression, leading to greater happiness. Concluding her message, Miler emphasized that her journey is personal and not a judgment on others. "Do what you want, queen, it's really not my business, I'm just sharing my experience," she said, encouraging those contemplating sobriety to "give it a try" as it "may just be the greatest gift you ever received." Her story resonates with many, sparking conversations about alcohol's role in society and personal well-being.
