BENGKULU – The ongoing corruption and gratification trial involving former Bengkulu Governor Rohidin continued at the Bengkulu Corruption Court on Tuesday, July 2. The latest proceedings brought forward several key witnesses, including current and former regents, shedding light on alleged illicit financial flows during political campaigns. Prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) called upon Bupati Kepahiang Zurdinata, Bupati Bengkulu Utara Arie Septia Adinata, Bupati Bengkulu Tengah Rachmat Riyanto, and former Bupati Seluma Erwin Octavian to testify. Their testimonies exposed how public funds were allegedly funneled through political channels, disguised as survey and 'party operational' expenses. Zurdinata, who was a candidate for Bupati Kepahiang supported by the Golkar Party, admitted to being asked for Rp 1 billion but only handed over Rp 500 million through Syaiful, reportedly on the orders of the Golkar Party's Kepahiang DPD Chairman. Similarly, Arie Septia Adinata, then a candidate for Bupati Bengkulu Utara, stated that Rp 200 million was transferred to Juhaili, Chairman of Golkar Bengkulu Utara DPD, before being 'deposited' to Rohidin. Erwin Octavian, former Bupati Seluma, gave a candid account of a substantial deposit: a total of Rp 500 million plus Singapore dollars, directly handed over to Evriansyah, Rohidin's aide, in Jakarta. Erwin claimed the purpose of the 'survey money' remained unclear, seemingly disappearing into the pockets of politicians and the governor's inner circle. Rachmat Riyanto, a candidate for Bupati Bengkulu Tengah at the time, also added to the list of alleged contributions. He claimed he was initially asked for Rp 750 million by the local Golkar DPD Chairman but could only provide Rp 500 million, which was then reportedly passed on to Rohidin. The trial continues to unravel the intricate web of alleged corruption.
