"It happened so fast," Chang stated in an interview. "One moment we were fine, the next, the boat was sinking." The bodies of Gan Hon Tat (32), his wife Careen Man (29), their son Darren Gan (3), Cheu Son Hin (50), and Fong Yong Sen (29) were recovered. The bodies of the couple were found approximately 200 meters apart, while the others were found inside the capsized vessel. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. The Star reported that the victims were not wearing life jackets at the time. Chang, who managed to swim to safety, was rescued by a passing fishing boat. He described the boat as being in good condition prior to the incident.
