Taiwan Hotpot Dispute: Customer Calls Police Over Pork-Tasting Chicken
A customer at a hotpot restaurant in Taichung, Taiwan, called the police after claiming her chicken dish tasted like pork. The incident, which occurred on May 27, was captured on video and quickly spread online. The video shows the woman engaging in a heated argument with restaurant staff, culminating in her throwing a hot kettle and vegetables onto the floor. Two police officers arrived to de-escalate the situation. According to local media reports, restaurant staff stated the woman had complained twice about the dish but refused a replacement. One officer is heard saying, "You can speak, but don't throw other people's things, okay?" The woman eventually paid for her meal but refused to compensate for the wasted food. Despite the disturbance, the restaurant decided not to press charges. The incident highlights cultural differences in customer service expectations and the sometimes-unpredictable nature of customer complaints.
