Kazakh Students Lead Eco-Marathon Cleanup, Collecting Hundreds of Kilograms of Trash
Eco-Marathon Cleans Up Lake Shore in Kazakhstan A recent eco-marathon in Kazakhstan saw a significant cleanup effort by local youth. Organized by the M. Zhumabayev educational institution, the event involved more than 70 students who spent their time cleaning the shores of a lake. The initiative is part of a larger movement towards environmental sustainability in the country. "We understand that we are responsible for keeping our environment clean," said Dayana Baymukanova, a participant from the "Shtab JE SKO" KZ team. "This shows that young people are actively involved in eco-marathons and are contributing to the beauty of our city." One student, Zhanbota Amangeldiev, has participated in similar events for four years. "I've been involved in 'Clean City' and 'Clean Kazakhstan' initiatives for four years," Amangeldiev stated. "Last year alone, we collected 620 kilograms of garbage from the shores of the Pestovoe lake." The organizers reported that the eco-marathon format proved to be an effective way to engage young people in environmental protection. Each participant received a certificate and a gift for their efforts. The event is symbolic of the growing awareness and action towards environmental sustainability among Kazakhstan's youth.
