Illegal Taxis Targeted in North Kazakhstan Amidst Rise in Traffic Accidents
Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan – In a bid to curb rising traffic accidents, authorities in the North Kazakhstan region are intensifying their efforts to crack down on illegal taxi drivers. Since the beginning of the year, 143 accidents have been recorded, resulting in 7 fatalities and 200 injuries. "The increase in accidents is alarming," stated Alibek Gabdullin, head of the regional traffic police. "We're focusing on prevention and education to improve road safety." The police are conducting surprise raids in towns and rural areas, targeting drivers using mobile apps without proper registration. One recent case involved a 35-year-old driver in Petropavlovsk who was fined for operating illegally. The ongoing "Safe Road" operation aims to enhance safety and comfort for passengers by ensuring only registered and licensed drivers are operating.
