
Lost Novel Reveals Untold Story of 1916 Kazakh Uprising
A recently unearthed novel sheds light on the 1916 Kazakh uprising. Smaghul Saduakasov's "Sarsenbek", a previously unpublished work, offers a unique perspective on this pivotal moment in Kazakh history. The novel, which details the goals of Kenesary Kasymuly, was only recently brought to light thanks to the efforts of Saduakasov's wife, Elizaveta Bokeykhanova, who passed the manuscript to the renowned writer Mukhtar Auezov. Experts interviewed in a new video highlight the importance of Saduakasov's work and its contribution to our understanding of the 1916 events. "This novel is incredibly valuable," says one expert, "it offers a perspective often overlooked."
