Market Vendors Decry Prolonged Closures, Citing Economic Hardship
Almaty, Kazakhstan – Local vendors are expressing growing frustration over the prolonged closure of a section of a market, which they claim is severely impacting their livelihoods. A vendor, who wished to remain anonymous, shared her concerns in a recent online video, stating that the issue has persisted for years despite repeated appeals to relevant authorities. "My family and I, along with many others, have been trying to resolve this for a long time," the vendor explained. "We pay rent, but we can't work. How are we supposed to earn money to support our families?" She highlighted that the closures, particularly on weekends, are preventing vendors from selling their goods, which include various household necessities. According to the vendor, the lack of understanding from the responsible party is a major barrier to resolution. "They don't seem to care about our struggles; they only think about themselves," she lamented. She plans to provide further visual evidence of the market's state this coming weekend to draw more attention to the ongoing economic hardship faced by the vendors.
