Belarusian Woman Rescues Woodpecker Chicks Found in Fallen Tree

A Belarusian woman, Anastasiya Chernyavskaya, unexpectedly discovered a nest of woodpecker chicks while collecting firewood near her farm in Molodechno. The mother bird was absent. "We were cutting wood, and then we heard these little chirps," Chernyavskaya recounted. The chicks were too young to survive on their own. Chernyavskaya carefully removed the section of the tree containing the nest and brought the chicks home, where she is providing them with care. She plans to release them once they are old enough to fend for themselves.
