Fairfield Fire: Evacuation Orders Lifted as Crews Contain Blaze
Fairfield Fire: Evacuation Orders Lifted After Blaze Threatens Homes A wildfire broke out near Vista Grande and Capitolla Way in Fairfield, California, on Monday afternoon, June 3, 2025, prompting mandatory evacuations for residents in the area. The fire, fueled by dry conditions and strong winds, quickly spread to over 60 acres. Cal Fire aircraft were deployed to drop fire retardant, and firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Thankfully, no homes were damaged. Evacuation orders were lifted later that evening. "As soon as we saw the fire getting close to the crest of the hill, we said, 'Okay, it's time to go,'" said Gregory Hilliard, a Fairfield resident who evacuated his home. "I always keep a backpack ready with essentials: ID, credit cards, anything we might need." Deputy Chief Rich Llewellyn of the Fairfield Fire Department explained the concentrated effort to protect homes. "It was a concentrated effort of both ground and air resources," he said, "making sure we didn't lose any structures." The quick response and coordinated efforts of firefighters prevented any property damage, ensuring the safety of the community. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
