In a recent video, Dana claimed that producers actively directed contestants' behavior and even orchestrated romantic interactions, including instructing participants to kiss fellow competitors. Dana recounted her experiences on the show, stating that while contestants were generally allowed to behave "normally," there were instances where producers dictated specific actions. "Rarely was I told what to do," she stated, before detailing a more manipulative aspect of the production. A significant point of contention raised by Dana was the severe restriction on phone access. Contestants were reportedly not allowed to use their phones at all during their time on the island. Dana explained that she only regained access to her phone after filming concluded for both seasons she participated in. She described feeling disoriented upon getting her phone back, having forgotten what to do with it after such a long period of disconnection. Furthermore, Dana alleged that producers used phone access as a bargaining chip. She specifically mentioned a producer named Razvan, whom she described as "crazy" but also expressed affection for, who would approach her with conditions. "He would come to me and say, 'Do you want your phone for five minutes?'" Dana recalled. When she would agree, he would then reportedly make demands: "He would say, 'If you want me to give you the phone for five minutes, make sure you kiss that guy.'" She added, "He'll give it to you for ten [minutes] if you kiss him." Dana characterized these interactions as "games." These revelations cast a shadow on the authenticity of "Insula Iubirii," suggesting that the dramatic relationships and conflicts portrayed on screen may be the result of careful manipulation by the production team rather than genuine spontaneous interactions among contestants. The allegations have sparked discussion among viewers and former participants about the ethical practices within reality television.
