AFP General Accused of Rape: CCTV Footage and Investigation Details Emerge
General Accused of Raping Soldiers in Batangas A high-ranking general in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is facing serious accusations of rape and attempted rape. Two soldiers have filed a complaint alleging the assault occurred at the Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas. CCTV footage obtained by News5 shows the two soldiers visibly upset and crying after leaving the general's quarters. The general denies the accusations in his counter-affidavit, stating that the soldiers had free access to leave and could have used force to prevent the alleged assault. "They could have easily left my room," the general stated in his counter-affidavit. The AFP is conducting an internal investigation and the general is currently under house arrest. The lawyer for the victims, Atty. Nico Robert Martin, stated that his clients were diagnosed with depression and stress disorders following the incident. The case highlights the ongoing challenges of addressing sexual assault within military ranks and underscores the need for thorough investigations and accountability.
