Confident Handover: Marbil Endorses Torre as New PNP Chief
The Philippines witnessed a smooth transition of power within its National Police force on May 30, 2025. Outgoing PNP chief, Gen. Rommel Marbil, expressed full confidence in his successor, P/Maj. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, during his last day in office. Marbil stated, "I believe Torre is more capable than I am." His final day was filled with significant events, including the unveiling of a newly renovated PNP museum and a traditional flag-lowering ceremony at Camp Crame. The ceremony, symbolic of the end of an era, underscored the orderly transfer of command. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla also voiced his confidence in Torre's leadership, stating that Torre's leadership will drive transformation, innovation, and strengthen the PNP. Torre, the first PNP chief to graduate from the Philippine National Police Academy, is poised to lead the organization into a new chapter. This seamless transition reflects positively on the stability of the PNP and the nation.
