Identity Theft Clears Man in Mongale Murder Case
In a surprising turn of events in the Olorato Mongale murder case, South African police have cleared Fezile Ngubane of any involvement. Initial investigations linked Ngubane to the crime, but further inquiries revealed that his identity had been stolen and used by the actual suspect, Phalangokooi Sibongukuhle Makhanya. According to Brigadier Matthee, "We reached a conclusion that he was a victim of identity theft." Makhanya used Ngubane's cellphone number and other personal details to evade arrest. The police are now investigating whether Ngubane's mother assisted Makhanya in evading authorities. Ngubane has been released into his parents' custody. The case highlights the serious issue of identity theft in South Africa and the need for stronger protective measures.
