Political Turmoil in Peru: Nora Bonifaz Alleges Corruption and "Mafia Pact" in New Cabinet
Former Somos Perú founder Nora Bonifaz has publicly denounced the proposed cabinet led by José Jerí, asserting that she will not be part of it. In a video statement, Bonifaz accused Jerí of being a "puppet" controlled by Patricia Li Sotelo, the current president of Somos Perú. Bonifaz detailed Li Sotelo's alleged past, including a 2015 scandal involving the falsification of invoices for Lelio Balarezo and her removal from the Punta Negra municipality due to embezzlement. Furthermore, Bonifaz claimed that Li Sotelo had presented false academic titles. "This woman managed to change the very nature of this party," Bonifaz stated, highlighting a "mafia pact" in Congress that she believes facilitated Jerí's ascent. Bonifaz called for Jerí's immediate resignation, stressing the importance of an honest and efficient government, particularly with upcoming elections.
