Toronto, ON – Mayor Olivia Chow today announced the development of the East Harbour Transit Hub, a significant infrastructure project poised to become the city's second busiest transit station. The new hub is designed to serve an estimated 100,000 daily riders, dramatically improving connectivity for residents of East York and Scarborough traveling downtown. Speaking at the announcement site, Mayor Chow stated, "We are building an East Harbour transit hub together. This will be Toronto's second busiest station, with more than a 100,000 daily riders." She emphasized the hub's integration with the new Ontario Line and its role in streamlining commutes from areas like Lakeshore East and the Stouffville GO train lines. The Mayor highlighted the broader impact of the project, noting, "With better public transit, we will get more cars off the road and reduce congestion." The East Harbour Transit Hub is a key component of Toronto's strategy to enhance public transportation accessibility and sustainability, aiming to alleviate traffic burdens and foster a more efficient urban environment for its growing population.
