Minority MPs Rally Behind Dr. Bawumia for 2028 Presidential Bid
ACCRA, GHANA – Hon. Akosua Maanu Kozie addressed the press today, offering insights into a recent visit by minority Members of Parliament (MPs) to the private office of Dr. Bawumia. According to Hon. Kozie, approximately 60 minority MPs attended the meeting to express their unwavering support for Dr. Bawumia's presidential bid for the 2028 elections. "We had members of parliament from the minority side, numbering close to 60, showing up at Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's office to pledge their support for him as the presidential hopeful for 2028," Hon. Kozie stated. She further elaborated that the MPs reminded Dr. Bawumia of their past support in the last presidential primaries and reassured him of their continued allegiance. Hon. Kozie emphasized that Dr. Bawumia's qualities as a "calm, disciplined, and intentional leader" were key factors that inspired the MPs to publicly declare their support. She highlighted that the visit also aimed to counter any narratives suggesting a lack of support for Dr. Bawumia within the party. "Their show of force today has given a lot of assurance to us followers as well, to let others know that yes, there is a majority who are clearly behind him," she added. She clarified that while many MPs were present, others were either engaged with parliamentary duties or were outside the jurisdiction. The strong turnout, she noted, serves as a clear indication of significant backing for Dr. Bawumia's presidential aspirations.
