Accra's Rotational Trading System: A New Approach to the 24-Hour Economy
Accra Implements Rotational Trading System to Boost 24-Hour Economy Accra, Ghana is taking steps to enhance its 24-hour economy by introducing a rotational trading system. This initiative, explained by Gilbert Nii Ankrah, Head of Public Relations at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), aims to address traffic congestion and improve market efficiency. The AMA is working closely with the Metropolitan Security Council and market traders to ensure the successful implementation of the new system. "We are introducing a rotational trading system within the framework of the 24-hour economy," explains Mr. Ankrah. "This involves designating specific days and areas for market operations, thereby reducing traffic congestion in the central business district." The AMA has undertaken extensive consultations with market queens and other stakeholders to ensure buy-in and cooperation. The system is designed to allow traders to operate without disruption, while also improving traffic flow and overall city management. The AMA is hopeful that this initiative will contribute to the success of Accra's 24-hour economy and improve the lives of both traders and residents.
