Ghanaian Finance Minister Announces Disbursement of Funds to Key Sectors Accra, Ghana – June 4, 2025 – In a live address to Parliament yesterday, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced the full disbursement of funds to the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund). This follows several months of delayed transfers. "For the first time in several months, transfers to all statutory funds have been made promptly and in full," Dr. Forson stated. He detailed that 2 billion, 33 million, 469,670 Ghana cedis had been released to the NHIF, covering January, February, and March 2025 payments. Similarly, the GETFund received 2 billion, 710 million, 227,947 Ghana cedis for the same period. This substantial funding will enable the NHIF to settle arrears owed to healthcare providers and ensure the continued success of the free primary healthcare program. The GETFund will use its allocation to support the free senior high school program, addressing previous challenges that hindered its smooth implementation. The Minister's announcement underscores the government's commitment to meeting its statutory obligations in priority sectors of the economy.
