Delays in Cuba Scholarship Payments Worry Ghanaian Students
Delays in Cuba Scholarship Payments Spark Concern Among Ghanaian Students Ghanaian students anticipating funds from the Cuba Scholarship program are facing delays, according to a recent interview with Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, on UTV Ghana. Asafo-Agyei confirmed that the funds have been released, but the disbursement is hampered by bureaucratic processes and budgetary limitations. "The money is there," Asafo-Agyei stated. "But it takes time because of the procedures with the Bank of Ghana and Foreign Affairs." He explained that for bilateral scholarships, additional steps are required, involving communication with the host country's authorities. This process, he added, can take up to 14 days. The delays have caused anxiety among students, many of whom rely on these funds for their studies. The interview highlighted the challenges faced by students awaiting their allowances, emphasizing the need for more transparency and efficiency in the disbursement process. The Secretariat is working to expedite the process and ensure timely payments in the future.
