According to the friend, her 14-year-old son was made uncomfortable by the shorts and would require therapy to address his feelings. The woman, however, defended her attire, stating that the shorts were not revealing and that she felt comfortable in them. She further argued that individuals should have autonomy over their dress and suggested that the focus should be on teaching young boys not to sexualize women.
